Israel Holidays

Israel Holidays - Jaffa Port

Introduction to Holidays in Israel

A small country with a lot to offer, Israel is a unique holiday destination jam-packed with a diversity of sights and experiences that guarantee visitors an unforgettable holiday.

Sites of historical and religious significance abound, with Jerusalem providing a natural focal point for many Israel holiday itineraries. Galilee, the Dead Sea and Tiberias are also must-sees for visitors with even a passing interest in religion.

But the culture of Israel is about more than just the past - as the country’s many galleries, museums and festivals demonstrate. There’s always something on somewhere - from the annual Jazz Festival on the shores of the Red Sea in Eilat to the major exhibitions on display in Tel Aviv and the spectacular Festival of Lights in Jerusalem.

Israel’s famous Mediterranean and Red Sea beaches provide the perfect backdrop to sunny family holidays. Tel Aviv is perhaps the ultimate combined beach and city destination, with a cosmopolitan atmosphere and party spirit that regularly spills over onto the shoreline. Elsewhere on the Mediterranean coast, Herzliya and Netanya are less well known but equally beautiful resorts, offering visitors peaceful beachside holidays.

Eilat, the only Red Sea resort in Israel, enjoys a year-round sunny climate and the dramatic landscapes that characterise the Sinai region. Fantastic diving and snorkelling opportunities await those keen to explore the world under the waves - and with Dolphin Reef, Coral World and a variety of other entertainment opportunities there’s plenty for all the family to do on dry land as well.

Those in search of a luxury pampering experience will find plenty of tempting options amongst Israel’s many deluxe spas, and none better than those on offer by the Dead Sea. The unique benefits of the mineral-rich waters, therapeutic mud and low UV sunshine of the Dead Sea area are well documented, and the spas that line the shore make the most of the natural resources on their doorstep.

As a small country with a well-developed infrastructure and good road system, Israel is easy to get around and is ideal for driving holidays as well as package breaks. Whatever kind of holiday in Israel you’re looking for - guided tour, city break, beach holiday, luxury getaway or a tailormade itinerary - we at Holiday Designers can help ensure that your experience is a pleasurable and memorable one.

Israel is located at the junction between Africa, Asia and Europe, with the Mediterranean to the northwest and the Red Sea (Gulf of Aqaba) to the south. It is bordered by Lebanon in the north, Syria in the northeast, Jordan and the West Bank in the East and Egypt and the Gaza Strip in the southwest.

Climate in Israel

Summers in Israel are generally very warm. The Mediterranean coast tends to be hot and humid, while temperatures in Eilat are hotter but very dry. Jerusalem and central Israel are generally cooler, especially at night.

Spring and Autumn are pleasant - a little cooler than summer, but great weather for sightseeing. Evenings, especially in and around Jerusalem, can get cold.

Winter remains warm in Eilat, but is colder elsewhere in the country. January and February often see rain and, on occasion, snow.

Very little rain falls during the other seasons, and in Eilat rarely at all.
